Welcome to Aussie Rescue of Ontario, Canada!
These Australian Shepherds are in the ARPH program and are available in Ontario.

Please note: If you are interested in adopting an ARPH dog you must first complete an adoption application which can be found here, or by calling 1-877-ARPH-779.

Approval requires a check of the references you submit, a vet check and usually entails a home visit. This process can take a few weeks. Please remember that all positions in ARPH are held by volunteers who donate their available time for the benefit of these dogs.

All ARPH dogs are altered before adoption and all shots are up to date. They have also been tested for heartworm and either dewormed or fecal tested.

ARPH's standard adoption fee for a fully vetted dog is $225 CDN ($200 US). Any donations above the standard fee will help to offset any necessary expenses, and are tax deductible (for U.S. residents only). Occasionally, the fee may be lowered for special needs dogs and some senior dogs. Unaltered puppies require an additional spay/neuter deposit which is refunded upon proof of spay/neuter, per ARPH's adoption contract.

Devon Blue ARPH #11972

Devon Blue ARPH #11972 is a 2 year old blue merle male.

Devon was brought into rescue from a hoarder seizure. Now, this boy is living it up. He takes every opportunity to herd the resident mature lab and to whirl around the small yard with his other foster sister. He enjoys his excursions to Bruce pit and the local forest and has a good recall. He is fantastic with dogs. He's also just started to show interest and play with the tennis balls lying around. Devon can jump a baby gate with ease so would be a good agility prospect, too. He knows his basic commands even when distracted by his desire to herd. LOL!

Devon loves to snuggle and have his tummy rubbed. He is a still a bit shy of people when meeting them but does come around slowly. In the house his reaction to sudden movement or noises is to head to his crate where he feels safe. Outdoors he just sticks to his playmates. He is clean in his crate and walks well on leash. Devon doesn't seem to pay attention to cats.

Due to his strong herding instinct and his sensitivity to quick movements and loud noises a home with small children is not recommended. A canine companion would help put Devon at ease. This boy is fabulous and deserves the chance to live a life of luxury and pampering after his sad early start in life.

Devon lives in the Ottawa area.

If you have already filled out an application, have been approved by an ARPH Representative and would like more information on this handsome blue boy, then please contact Ginnette at aussies2rescue@gmail.com

Helen ARPH #11933

Helen ARPH #11933 is a beautiful, female black bi. She was found as a stray and had a short stay in a shelter before coming to ARPH so we are learning about Helen as we go. Her age has been estimated at 5-6 yrs old. Helen also suffers from cataracts which currently impair her vision, and will most likely result in total blindness. Despite her challenges in life, Helen is a loving and trusting girl. She is gentle and kind and loves every person she meets, especially children. She walks well on a leash and is crate trained, though she is quiet in the house and does not need to be confined when left alone. Helen would do best in a quiet home with an older or lower energy dog, but would also be fine as an only dog. Helen would also be fine in a home with cats.

If you are looking for a sweet, loving, quiet girl to join your family, Helen is the dog for you. Helen is up to date on all of her shots and other than the cataracts she is a happy healthy girl.

If you have already filled out an ARPH application, have been approved and would like more information about Helen then please contact Jane at 3aussiedogs@gmail.com

Cinders ARPH #11971

Cinders ARPH #11971, short for Cinderella, is a very cute little black tri female. She is about one and a half years old and full of spunk. Cinders is very calm and quiet in the house but get this little lady outside and it's a whole different ball game. Cinders LOVES to go for walks and really LOVES to run. What does Cinders like almost as much as running? Cinders just can't resist water (puddles or stream doesn't matter as long as it's wet)... she just has to run to the puddles, she has to run around the puddles and she just has to run into the puddles. Cinders also loves to play with her Aussie foster brother and is usually the one who engages him in a game of chase or tug.

Cinders is still rather shy of strangers (men in particular), but doesn't have a problem if her foster mom happens to meet an acquaintance and that person joins them for a walk. She also doesn't have any trouble spending the day with her people.

Cinders is very cuddly and loves to be petted. She wiggles her butt and paws the air when she is happy. It almost looks like she's waving at you for more attention. And she now really enjoys being brushed. She wasn't too crazy about being groomed when she first arrived but has come to enjoy it very much... smart girl.

She is a very quick learner. She knows "sit", "down", "crate", "off" and some basic manners (she waits until being told "ok" before going out of her crate or out of the house, and before starting to eat). Her recall is very good.

Cinders seems very interested in cats, squirrels and birds, so careful introductions would be have to be made if her new home already has smaller animals, because she has good prey drive. Her herding instincts are good too: she goes and gets her foster brother if he is lagging behind and, if going on a group walk, she will stick with the person at the back of the group, whoever it might be.

She is very good with other dogs too (especially if they like to run), has no trouble sharing her toys and does not guard her food.

She is usually very good in her crate, but still gets a bit anxious at times (she spent lots of time in her crate before coming into foster care) and is still working on not having "accidents" in the crate when left alone in it. It's been hard untraining her from using her crate as a her bathroom. Why, you might ask? It's because Cinders lived her whole life in a crate before coming into rescue. But when loose in the house she has been perfect (no accidents).

Cinders will need a home that is not very busy; meaning not a lot of human traffic running in and out all day. Maybe an older couple or a couple that doesn't have kids that are busy running in and out.

Cinders is living in the Ottawa area.

If you have already filled out an application, have been approved to adopt from ARPH and think you have the patience to show Cinders that people can be trusted, then please contact Ginnette at aussies2rescue@gmail.com

Mystery ARPH #12163

Mystery ARPH #12163,(or Mr. E, aka Mister), is an approximately 8-9 year-old blue merle Aussie. Mister had a bad reaction to flea bites last February that went untreated and, as a result, he lost half his hair. He was removed from his home and brought to a shelter. The volunteer who went to the shelter to meet him made a comment that Mr 'E' looked like an Aussie Crested (because of the way he looked with no hair).

In his foster home, Mr. E's coat has grown back soft and thick, and he has put on some much needed weight. He is getting stronger and friskier every day. He loves to swim, play tug and fetch, and sunbathe on the deck. When he arrived in foster care, he was very nervous about being left alone and wasn't sure how to play with other dogs. He seems to have overcome his separation anxiety and has actually become quite fond of other dogs, especially puppies (play bowing with them). However, he can still have trouble with very dominant dogs.

Mister loves people (male and female alike) and has been very gentle with the children he's met on walks (no jumping); however, he is prone to the zoomies and his herding instinct kicks in when he sees quick movement, so a family with small children is not recommended.

Mister has had some crate training and is comfortable with being left in a crate for short periods of time. He knows sit, shake-a-paw, down and no. His recall is fairly reliable but he might take a little time to smell the roses first. Mister has a calm disposition and is very eager to please. He'd love to cuddle with you on the sofa or lie down at your feet while you work.

Mister 'E' is looking for a home to call his own, a place where he can relax and live out the rest of his life...flea free...

Mister 'E' is living in the Ottawa area.

If you have already filled out an application, have been approved to adopt from ARPH and would like more information about Mister 'E', then please contact Ginnette at aussies2rescue@gmail.com

Panda ARPH #11935

This gorgeous 8 year old girl is Panda ARPH #11935. Not long ago Panda's whole world changed when she was surrendered by her owner to ARPH due to their relocation to a home that did not allow dogs. Change was not an easy thing for Panda. Everything was new and a little scary to her. It took a little time to convince her that change is not a bad thing and once she has decided she trusts you she lets you see the happy and loving dog she really is.

Panda loves many things. She loves to make her people happy and she knows all her basic commands; she is a very well behaved girl. Panda loves her walks and she is very good on a leash. She loves to be close to you so she has a rocking recall.

Panda loves being outside with you and loves to play. We set up a jump and she was so happy chasing a ball over it we are wondering if she might be able to do a little agility. She sure has the energy for it! Panda loves her Frisbee, her ball and she just loves to play. She has discovered that playing with her foster brother can be fun. We are really enjoying watching this lovely girl come out of her shell. The one thing Panda does love a little too much is the cat, so Panda would probably do well in a home without cats or with one that is really dog savvy.

This picture does not do Panda justice, as she is truly a beautiful girl with a trim figure and stunning markings. Won't you think about giving Panda a home? She will not disappoint you. She can be your new best friend.

Adopted!
Charlie ARPH #11936

This handsome fello's name is Charlie ARPH #11936 and he is a stunning boy. Charlie was rescued from a private shelter after he was found wandering in a field with a furry friend. He is a stunning Aussie boy about 2 years old. Charlie is a mid to low energy Aussie who likes to be with his people. He is not sure how to play with toys but is willing to learn. He gets along well with other dogs and likes to romp and play with them. A home with a high fence and a solid gate is best for Charlie as, although he does have paws, he seems to be able to use them like hands. He wants to be with his people so he will find a way to do so. Charlie is content to sit on the porch and watch his universe as long as his people are close by.

Charlie is a little reserved when you first meet him, but once he realizes he is there to stay he settles in nicely and looks for belly rubs and wants to be a lap dog. We are not sure if Charlie is good with young children so he would be better in a home with children 12 and over. Charlie is up to date on all his shots and is neutered. He is looking for that special home with dog savvy adopters who can help him become the best dog he can be.

If you have already filled out an application, have been approved to adopt from ARPH and would like more information about Charlie, then please contact Jane at 3aussiedogs@gmail.com

New!
Moxie ARPH #11864

This handsome boy is called Moxie ARPH #11864 He is about 1 year old. Why has he ended up in rescue at such a young age you ask?

Moxie was hit by a car. His previous owners left him at the vet's to be euthanized because they could not afford to pay for the operation to fix his leg. The vet asked them if they would release Moxie to him so he could contact rescue to see if rescue could help.

Moxie's leg was operated on and he has been moved to foster care. He is doing very well. Recovery is slow but soon Moxie will be well enough to run and play with his foster brother and sister.

Moxie has a huge vet bill to pay for now...will you help Moxie?
